Description
Discipline Through Sound 25 is the newest release by Big’n, a noise-rock band from Chicago that formed in 1990. At the time, the band consisted of vocalist William Akins, guitarist Todd Johnson, bassist Mike Chartrand, and drummer Brian Wnukowski.
DTS 25 is the second in our Expanded Reissue series. It commemorates the 25th anniversary of the band’s indisputable masterpiece Discipline Through Sound.
The release is a 2LP containing a remastered and resequenced version of the album and is supplemented by unreleased demos, outtakes, tracks from a split EP with OXES and a booklet featuring a foreword by Steve Albini and never-before-seen documentation.
— The release was intended to come out in 2021 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original Discipline Through Sound album but was delayed due to a PVC shortage and the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
— Both discs were mastered and cut by long time friend Carl Saff in April and May 2021 in Chicago.

Structural Notes
— Sides A and B contain a resequenced and remastered version of Discipline Through Sound. Recorded by Steve Albini at Chicago Recording Company in December 1995 and January 1996. Released by arrangement with Gasoline Boost Records.
— Side C contains demo sessions digitally restored from an unearthed cassette tape labeled “AmRep Demos“. They were recorded in the summer of 1995 by Dave “Daver” Zuchowski at One Room Studio, Joliet, IL, and were at one point to be the album versions.
— Side D was recorded by Carl Saff in April 1998. It contains three tracks from a split CD with OXES that was released in 1999 on Box Factory Records. They are now available for the first time on vinyl. The two last songs are never-before-heard outtakes.
